Is he Worthy?
Currently residing in San Francisco, DJ Worthy grew up around Washington DC in the early days of Deep Dish, Scott Henry and the early American rave scene. In the late 90's after moving to New York City, Worthy met his good friend Justin Martin and was exposed to the sounds of people like LTJ Bukem, Stacey Pullen, and Sasha. All of these influences made an impression on this young producer as he began to play records of all genres from hip hop to breaks to techno and drum n bass.
In 2001 Worthy set up his studio in San Francisco and began producing house music. He began DJing around the city at clubs such as The Top, Lit, and Anu. Soon a San Francisco tech house label called Dirtybird, soon noticed Worthy's talent and asked him to be a resident DJ at their huge monthly summer event in Golden Gate Park along side of Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, and Christian Martin. He has played along side other great DJs such as Jesse Rose, JT Donaldson, Lance Desardi, and Luke Solomon. In 2006 Worthy started his own label called Katabatic Records to give him a way to release his own music. Katabatic Records has been releasing a steady stream of quality tech house and has gaining praises for its edgy music.
2007 is looking to be a break out year for Worthy with two releases coming out on dirtybird including a remix of Claude VonStroke’s “The Whistler” and an ep on Matt Tolfrey’s label Leftroom Limited. Along with new releases on his label Katabatic Records with remixes from Alland Byallo and Christian Martin. If you have not heard of Worthy then you will soon know that he is worthy.

Camp & Leutwyler - The Girl at the Front Desk |
] |
VA: Human NatureSampler 1 Human Nature
VA: Human NatureSampler 2 Human Nature
Ben Camp, Mat Leutwyler, and Wally C introduce their latest label venture Human Nature with eight hard-hitting, bass-heavy club tracks spread across two EPs. The contributors are hardly neophytes. Philadelphia-based Camp has issued music on Movim Recordings, Houseplant Records, and Hatch Music imprints, and is heavily involved with Silver Planet Recordings too. Leutwyler partners with Camp in Camp & Leutwyler, obviously, but the two also operate under other aliases (BCML, Acid Mutant, Josh Whatever & Al Centro, Punktooth), produced “Speedcats” (christened BBC Radio One's “Record of the Year”), and have received DJ support by the likes of Carl Cox, Pete Tong, and Paul Van Dyk.
Kickstarted by slamming snares and a classic Motown-flavoured bass line, Camp's Sampler #1 opener “Cocky and Funny” has as much in common with rock'n'roll as it does dance music, a quality asserted even more strongly when a twanging electric guitar joins the fray, snaking a path over the roaring base like a barracuda. Synths snarl and chime as the energy level intensifies and explodes, rendering the track anything but minimal. Anchored by a hefty bass drum punch, Ben Camp & His Acid Orchestra's “The Slug Dance” oozes rabid electro swing as its percussive jolts ricochet over a swirling maelstrom. Camp & Leutwyler's “Legend” is an epic jam, with raw guitar roasting over an acidy, bass-driven stomp, which impresses a little less for downplaying melody. Girlfriend more than atones for that lack with the pulsating dark electro anthem “Two Packs of Ciggs, a Hand Grenade, and Girlfriend” which swings effervescently for a glorious nine minutes. The jams on Sampler #2 stomp no less determinedly, especially when they include Camp's epic, electro-acid raver “Pay the Bills” and Girlfriend's churning acid-house “Not Tonight” and its cascading cymbal splashes and biting bass-and-drum groove. With a snappy pulse drenched in synth gobbles and squiggles, Ben Camp & His Acid Orchestra's wiry “So Hot Acid” delivers exactly what one might expect. The EP catches its breath during Camp & Leutwyler's slightly chilled “Paris” where dramatic swirls coil around a pumping attack and a vague hint of Prog emerges via the ornate keyboard layers.

| SINDEN (DUBSIDED, UK / FABRIC) @ FLUID 3/9 |
[02 Mar 2007|06:26pm] |
Sinden is a unique producer/DJ who has, over the last year, flooded the shops and internet blog sites with his own brand of forward thinking remixes, productions, clever mash ups and genre melting DJ mixes. Since Spring 2005 Sinden has gone on to officially remix Lady Sovereign, Mary J Blige, Bugz In The Attic, Switch, Edu K, Bonde Do Role, Mekon, Walter Meego and collaborated with Solid Groove and Jesse Rose.
Sinden's finest DJing accomplishment to date was scoring a residency at Fabric. Since January of '07, he, along with label mate, Switch have been programming and DJing a room in Fabric under the banner of 'Get Familiar' on a bi-monthly basis. Sinden also spun at Basement Jaxx's club night, 'Inside Out' at Jamm in Brixton and was the only revisiting resident alongside Jaxx's Felix and Simon. Sinden and Switch have plans to release a remix of the Basement Jaxx new single 'Hey You' in the coming weeks.
Visit Sinden's Myspace for more info and music.
